Fried Chicken Recipe (Serves 4)
Ingredients:
For marination:
- Chicken drumsticks or thighs – 8 pieces
- Buttermilk (or thin yogurt) – 1 cup
- Garlic powder – 1 tsp
- Onion powder – 1 tsp
- Red chili powder – 1 tsp
- Salt – to taste
- Black pepper – ½ tsp
For coating:
- All-purpose flour – 1 cup
- Cornstarch – ½ cup
- Baking powder – ½ tsp
- Salt – ½ tsp
- Black pepper – ½ tsp
For frying:
- Soybean or refined oil – as needed
Instructions:
-
Marinate the chicken:
Clean and pat dry the chicken pieces. Mix them with buttermilk (or yogurt) and all spices. Cover and refrigerate for 4–6 hours (the longer, the better for tender meat). -
Prepare the coating:
In a separate bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and pepper. -
Coat the chicken:
Take the marinated chicken and coat each piece thoroughly in the flour mixture. For extra crunch, dip the coated piece back in buttermilk and again in flour (double coating). -
Fry the chicken:
Heat oil on medium flame. Carefully drop the chicken pieces in and fry for 10–15 minutes until golden brown and crispy. -
Serve:
Drain excess oil on paper towels. Serve hot with ketchup, garlic mayo, or your favorite dip.
